PAEC Begins Work on C-5: Pakistan’s Largest Nuclear Power Plant
The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has taken a significant step towards energy sustainability by initiating construction on the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 (C-5) in Mianwali.
This milestone event was graced by prominent figures, including Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, and other esteemed Pakistani and Chinese dignitaries.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the C-5 project as a shining example of the enduring Pak-China friendship. He emphasized its potential to create thousands of jobs for Pakistani citizens while contributing clean and affordable electricity to the national power grid.
"The C-5 project is not just an energy solution; it’s a leap toward transforming Pakistan into a techno-economy," he stated.
Once operational, the C-5 will be Pakistan's largest and most advanced nuclear power plant, contributing an additional 1,200 MW of clean energy. This will bring the total nuclear energy capacity to 4,760 MW, strengthening the country's efforts to achieve energy independence and fostering socio-economic development.
